Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Yatra - 15 Nights/ 16 Days

Festival Tours in Tibe

In the most northern region of the Himalayas, high on the remote western Tibetan plateau, sits Mt. Kailash, the holy maountain. They Tibetan people call it Kang Rinpoche or snow jewel and Hindus call it Mt. Meru . Budhhist, Hindu and Jain pilgrims from all over the world go to this holy mountain to circumambulate rather than to scale the 22,028 feet high peak.

Hindus who walk around the 32-mile circumference of Mount Kailash use the term parikrama. They believe that lord Shiva, one of their three main gods, resides atop what they call Mount Meru . Tibetans refer to the clockwise circumambulation as a kora. Both words mean the same thing pilgrimage. It is believed that doing a walk around the mountain can take away your all sins.

Mansarovar Lake

Man Sarovar is a holy lake which lies on the way to Mount Kailash . It seems very beautiful on the high altitude of Tibet . You can either encircle it or take a bath when you reach there.

Mt. Kailash is also an important religious center for Jains as well. They call this mountain Mt. Ashtapada. According to their religion, this is the place where the great sage Rishabhadeva, the founder of Jain religion, attained nirvana, here on the peak of Mt. Ashtapada.

Mount Kailash (6714m), the farmed holy peak in west of Tibet.

Mt. Kailash has long been an object of worship for four Major religions. For Hindus, it is domain of Shiva. It is also the abode of samvara-a multiarmed, wrathful deity worshipped in the chakrasamvara Tantric cycle of Tibetian Buddhism. And in the ancient Bon religion of Tibet , Kailash was the sacred nine storeys Swastika Mountain , upon which the Banpo founder Shenrab alighted from haven. The 53 Km. Kailash Circuit is the holist of all-Hindu as well as Buddist pilgrimages and the beacon, which draws most traveller to western Tibet . It is said that a single Parikarma erases the accumulated sins of a lifetime, while 108 cicurmbulation will achieve Salvation.
